A few weeks ago, I made Easter Bunny Cupcakes in celebration of Easter.
Though I don’t personally celebrate the religious holiday, I love bunnies so I couldn’t pass up the chance to make something rabbit themed. A lot of people asked me how I made the bunny topper for the cupcakes, also famously known as the “bunny butt”. It was actually very easy to make but it was time consuming to get it to look right. Being the perfectionist that I was, I spent hours tweaking it until it looked right. I decided to post a step by step photo tutorial on how I made the fondant bunny butt cupcake topper. Here’s what you need:
- White fondant
- Pink fondant
- A little dish of water
- Small paintbrush
A few weeks ago, I bought a bunny cupcake kit from Homesense which got me really excited because
a) I love bunnies
b) I love baking
Easter is coming up so this gives me an excuse to make bunny themed desserts!
I also saw this as an opportunity to work with fondant as I’ve never used it before. I’ve seen people make bunny cupcakes where it looks like a bunny is falling through a rabbit hole so I wanted to recreate it. Though I feel like the results could’ve been better, I’m pretty satisfied with the results 🙂
The other day I was watching “The Mind of a Chef” on Netflix, Season 2 featuring British chef April Bloomfield. That was when I saw her make this beautiful dessert – Bannoffee Pie.
I fell in love with it immediately and knew I had to learn how to make it! She’s already teaching us how on the show and it actually looked pretty simple to make. I’ve always known Bannoffee Pie as a classic English dessert and unfortunately never got a chance to try it when I was in London, England last year. But who am I kidding, I didn’t know about its existence at that time anyways.
One of my goals this year is to document all of our cooking and baking adventures so that by the end of the year, we can publish all of our creations into a book that we can share with family and friends. Most importantly, it documents how our cooking and baking skills have evolved over time and it will encourage us to be more creative and refine our recipes that is worth sharing.
I kicked off 2015 with one of my proudest creations to date – a chocolate bunny roll cake! Inspired by cute roll cakes I’ve seen on the internet where characters and designs can be customized for each cake, I decided to take a stab at making my own roll cake design as I have yet to see anyone create a cute bunny roll cake.
